- Vectors, Matrices and linear algebra: creating vector and matrix variables/ colon operator/ Indexing techniques/ find function/ logical indexing/ multidimensional arrays/ array operations / standard matrix multiplication.
- Basic and common functions: basic mathematics / discrete mathematics / rational and logical operators / statistics and random numbers/ special matrices.
- Plotting: basic plot/ plot main properties/ plot main functions/ line, marker and color/ subplots/ discrete data plot/ polar plot/ logarithmic plot/ bar graphs and pie charts/ histogram/ vector field plot/ vector vs. matrix plot/ stairs and area plot/ 3-D line plot/ surface and mesh plots/ contour plot/ 3-D vector field plot/ Editing figure from figure window/ Saving plots.
- User-defined function.
- Logical functions and programming: if / switch / for / while/continue/ break/ memory preallocation/ vectorization and avoiding loops.
- Symbolic math analysis: symbolic variables and expressions/ symbolic functions differentiation and integration/ solve function/ Dsolve function.
- Advanced data representation: cells / structures.
- Workshop methodology: slides will be used to explain the concepts with many examples. To save time, a script which contains all codes of the workshop will be distributed. The participant needs to execute these codes in the class and change certain parameters to enhance understanding.
- Target audience: under and post graduate students in engineering, science, management and economics faculties as well as those who are involved in scientific research activities.
- Objectives: this workshop aims to introduce the scientific programming language MATLAB to the participant which allows him/her to do assignments and projects required MATLAB easily and professionally, also this workshop give the participants strong background for further development.

- build variables in Matlab of different types, sizes.
- do basic data analysis and calculation.
- visualize data and make different types of plots.
- write codes to solve and simulate engineering and scientific problems.
- improve codes by vectorization and avoiding loops.
- work with symbolic math in MATLAB.
