It can form in any of the three main parts of your larynx: the supraglottis (upper part), glottis (middle part where your vocal cords are), or subglottis (lower part).

The main symptoms of laryngeal cancer include a change in your voice, such as sounding hoarse, pain when swallowing or difficulty swallowing, a lump or swelling in your neck, 

a long-lasting cough, a persistent sore throat or earache, and in severe cases, difficulty breathing.

 Some people may also experience bad breath, breathlessness, a high-pitched wheezing noise when breathing, unexplained weight loss, or fatigue.

**Partial Laryngectomy**

A partial laryngectomy is a surgical procedure to remove part of your larynx. 

This procedure is usually done for patients with cancer of the larynx.

 Depending on the severity of your condition, your healthcare provider may recommend a partial laryngectomy,

 (removing part of your larynx) or a total laryngectomy (removing all of your larynx). 

After the surgery, patients must learn new ways to breathe, speak, and swallow. 

Recovery from a laryngectomy depends on the type of the procedure you have had. 

Often, you will need a feeding tube to get nutrition until your throat heals. 

You will be told how to care for your incisions (surgical cuts), tracheostomy, feeding tube, and other drains.
