Erythropoiesis (Mechanism of RBCs formation) 

  • Erythropoiesis: is the process which produces mature red blood cells (erythrocytes) from erythropoietic stem cell .
  • It is stimulated by decreased O2 in circulation, which is detected by the kidneys, which then secrete the hormone erythropoietin.
  • Erythropoietin stimulates bone marrow to produce new red blood cells.
